Keel, perimenopause companionNow on iPhone

You're not imagining it.

The broken sleep, the foggy afternoons, the cycle that's stopped making sense.

Keel helps you keep track of what you're experiencing, what you're trying and what changes along the way. Whether you're finding your own way or getting ready to see your GP, you'll have a record to look back on, so you don't have to remember everything on the spot.

Free in Australia and New Zealand. No account needed.

Does any of this sound familiar?

Awake at 3am, again, with no idea why.

Reaching for a word in a meeting that simply isn't there.

A cycle that used to run like clockwork, now keeping its own hours.

Leaving the GP and remembering what you meant to say.

Any one of these is easy to explain away. Together, over months, they start to tell a story. The hard part is keeping hold of it.

"Ohhh. That explains a lot."

Getting to that realisation can take a while. Along the way come the weird and whacky things: itchy skin, plantar fasciitis, sore joints, a wobble in confidence, less joy in the things you used to love. They can seem completely unrelated.

Most of us are piecing it together from a note in our phone, a screenshot, a period app and a memory that isn't as reliable as it used to be. Then we get a short appointment to explain all of it.

Keel gives you one calm place to keep the clues, so you can join the dots sooner.

Why I created Keel

So much was changing, and I didn't feel like myself.

My sleep was different. My energy had shifted. My brain felt less reliable and I had lost my mojo.

I put it all down to stress, and there was plenty of it: career change, ageing parents, grief, caring responsibilities and the long tail of lockdowns. It's a mix many women will recognise, often with teenagers going through their own big changes at the same time.

Perimenopause barely got a mention, least of all from me. My life was definitely not on an even keel.

Then the hot flushes started, and the penny finally dropped. I began by trying to manage things myself, including natural supplements. Some seemed to help for a while, but eventually I knew I needed to talk to someone who understood perimenopause. I wanted to explain what had changed and what I'd already tried, without relying on my memory when I got there.

Keel grew from the gap between trying to manage it on my own and walking into an appointment ready to use the time well. I wanted other women to have something practical in their hands when life already feels complicated enough.

How Keel helps

Record it. Look back. Walk in prepared.

A short walkthrough of Keel on iPhone: logging an entry, looking back and preparing a GP Visit Summary
01

Record what you notice

Symptoms, cycles, treatments and how your days are going, in one place instead of four apps and a notes file. Check in when it suits you, typed or spoken. Irregular cycles, long gaps and no pattern at all are all welcome here.

Look back at your own record

See what you've entered over weeks and months, shown exactly as you recorded it. With your permission, Keel can read sleep and activity from Apple Health and labels where each one came from. You make the connections. Keel keeps the record.

Prepare for your GP conversation

Choose a time period, add your priorities and the questions you want to ask, and turn it into a GP Visit Summary. You see exactly what will be shared before anything leaves your phone.

What you can count on

Calm by design. Private by default.

Your record stays on your iPhone

No account and no server holding or selling your information. You choose what to share, and with whom.

Keel informs. You decide.

Keel never diagnoses, never tells you what is causing a symptom and never pushes products. What your record means is for you, and your health professional, to decide.

Free where it matters

Perimenopause costs women enough already. Recording what you notice and your GP Visit Summary will stay free, and any paid features will be optional.

Made here, for women here

Made by a small team in Australia who care deeply about this community, for women on both sides of the Tasman. Australian and New Zealand support contacts and privacy law are built in from day one.

Questions women ask us

Is Keel free?

Keel is free to use. Recording what you notice and creating your GP Visit Summary will stay free. Future releases will include optional paid features, with pricing and what's included explained before you choose.

Will Keel tell me whether I'm in perimenopause?

No. Keel helps you record and organise what you're experiencing. Working out what it means is a conversation for you and a qualified health professional.

Do I have to see a GP to use it?

Not at all. Keel is a record for yourself first, and for your GP if and when you're ready.

Where is my information kept?

On your iPhone. There's no account to create, and you choose what to share.

What if I change or lose my phone?

Your Keel record is included in your iPhone backups, whether to iCloud or your computer, when those are turned on, so it comes with you when you restore a new phone. You can also export a Keel backup at any time from Backup & Restore in the app, then restore it on another iPhone. The Keel team never sees either.

Is there an Android version?

Not yet. Email keel@therecalibrationyears.com so we know you're waiting.

Keel helps you record and organise what you are experiencing. It does not diagnose perimenopause, determine what is causing a symptom, recommend treatment or replace advice from a qualified healthcare professional.
